This is a RJC GP standard?!

Okay,so Mr Andrew, being the kind and generous person he is,showed us a GP essay he ripped off from the net.In case you want to read the different GP essays that Typical RJC students write or so they claim, the website is http://schools.moe.edu.sg/rjc/subjects/english/gp/downloads/index.htm#essays .
All I got to say is,Holy Crap!To quote one essay about the appeal of cults,

"Conventional notions of cults are largely unsympathetic and damning. While images of Black Masses and bacchanalian orgies sometimes arise from distortions by a sensationalist media culture, most cults frequently use subversive tactics. These may include indoctrination, the threat of physical violence or spiritual suffering and peer pressure, resulting in overdependence and an inability to break away. "

A typical MI student would write,"Jack shit."Haha..actually I don't know how a MI student would write this essay. As for me,apart from some superbly applied bombastic words that a typical degree holder will never heard of,the essays are well above of what I'm used to.It's as though the student is going out of his way to impress the marker of using words that he himself might know the meaning of.

Case in point, the word bacchanalian which means a riotously drunken merrymaking, which in layman's terms is good kinky sex while you're as drunk as a cow on a barrel of vodka. But then again a typical student would never thought of using bacchanalian or even understand what it means.A typical student would say "When you think of cults, you tend to think of alot of people having sex and killing each other and drinking their blood."Doesn't quite sound impressive or awe-inspiring right?Another example of impressive writing, this one a conclusion on the neccesity of religion.

"In his book "How We Believe", Michael Shermer terms himself an "agnostic", or one who cannot conclude whether there is a God due to the insufficient evidence and that beliefs change as new information is presented. The question of whether there is a God will always be there, believe in what you need to. That will be your necessary religion. "

Now would you even thought of writing the last line as reference to the question at hand with a direct statement with such glaring impunity?Even I didn't thought of that.
